The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office held its annual Law Enforcement Memorial Service, honoring Flagler County, state, and national law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. During the ceremony, Sheriff Rick Staly, FCSO employees, family members, and members of the community held a candlelight vigil in honor of the agency’s six fallen law enforcement officers and one fallen K-9, as well as three other fallen law enforcement officers from other agencies with connections to Flagler County.

In addition to the fallen heroes, FCSO’s first K-9 to die in the line of duty, K-9 Kyro, was honored. This was the first year Kyro — who passed away on Oct. 14, 2025, following an undiagnosed heart condition from birth — was honored during the memorial service.
Alongside the members of FCSO, three other law enforcement officers with ties to Flagler County were also honored. They are:
The FCSO Honor Guard, Knights of Columbus Honor Guard, Coastal Florida Police & Fire Pipes & Drums, FCSO Chaplains, and family members of the fallen heroes all participated in the ceremony.
The memorial service was held during National Police Week. Established in 1962 by a joint resolution of Congress, National Police Week pays special recognition to law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
