More than 250 walkers and many other community members gathered at Veterans Park in Flagler Beach on Saturday, April 25, for the Cedar Bridge Foundation's Autism Walk/Run & Family Fun Day in recognition of Autism Acceptance Month.
The event surpassed the foundation's participation goal, drawing a strong turnout of families, individuals, local businesses and community partners from Flagler County and surrounding areas. The day reflected a shared commitment to supporting individuals with autism and their families while strengthening connections across the community.
The free event featured a self-paced walk/run with both 4K and 1-mile options, along with music, local vendors and a variety of family-friendly activities for all ages and abilities. In partnership with the Flagler Beach Farmers Market, the event created a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere throughout the park.
Beyond the activities, the event highlighted Cedar Bridge Foundation’s focus on creating real-world opportunities that build life skills, confidence and meaningful relationships outside of traditional classroom settings.
“This is more than an event, it’s our community,” said Terrie Baker, co-founder of Cedar Bridge Foundation. “These are individuals and families we know and walk alongside every day, which made seeing everyone come together so meaningful.”
Cedar Bridge Foundation continues to expand its programs and outreach efforts, supporting individuals with autism and related disabilities and their families through social, educational and community-based initiatives.
The success of the Autism Walk/Run & Family Fun Day reflects the growing support for initiatives that prioritize belonging, connection and real-world engagement demonstrating the impact a united community can have when it comes together with purpose.
