The Casements hosted its first "Pancakes and Pajamas with Pops" event on Saturday, June 27, welcoming fathers and father figures and their daughters ages 5-12 for a morning of breakfast and activities.
This year's event replaced the father-daughter dance held during the previous three years.
"This year, we wanted to think of a way to reimagine it, but still do a father-daughter tradition," said Sara Dionne, The Casements Cultural Center coordinator.
Dionne said the idea for the new event was inspired by The Casements' Christmas pancake breakfast.
"We do our pancake breakfast at Christmas so we thought why not use the idea and try a pancake breakfast for the fathers and daughters this year instead," Dionne said.
Dozens of guests attended the event, which featured a pancake breakfast with sausage, a toppings bar and beverages, as well as face painting, crafts, music, a photo booth and a pajama contest. Attendees also had the opportunity to win raffle prizes donated by the Daytona Tortugas and Dave & Buster's, and each guest received a gift bag.
Held at the historic former winter home of John D. Rockefeller, fathers and daughters spent the morning enjoying breakfast together, making crafts and posing for photos.
"It has been successful. We had so much fun planning it and we're definitely going to do this again next year," Dionne said.
