Volusia County Schools' Balgobin named 2026 FACTE Superintendent of the Year

Dr. Carmen Balgobin was recently named the 2026 Florida Association for Career and Technical Education Superintendent of the Year.

Volusia County Schools Superintendent Dr. Carmen Balgobin was recently named the 2026 Florida Association for Career and Technical Education Superintendent of the Year.

The district announced the recognition on Friday, June 12, stating that the award recognizes superintendents "who demonstrate exceptional leadership and commitment to Career and Technical Education."

"Under Dr. Balgobin’s leadership, Volusia County Schools has significantly expanded career academies, workforce partnerships, industry certification opportunities, skilled trades programs, and work-based learning experiences that prepare students for success in both college and careers," the district's announcement stated. "This recognition is a reflection of Dr. Balgobin’s vision, unwavering support of Career and Technical Education, and commitment to ensuring all students have access to high-quality learning opportunities that lead to meaningful futures."

Balgobin will be formally recognized during the FACTE Awards Gala at the Seaworld Renaissance in Orlando on July 14.
