PHOTOS: Declaration of Independence, plus hot dog eating contest, at the Flagler Executive Airport

Crowds were inspired by the patriotic reading, and then didn't know what to think about the hot dogs.

Palm Coast Mayor Mike Norris kicked off the festivities at the Flagler Executive Airport, asking the crowd, "Where my patriots at?"

After the pledge of allegiance and the singing of the national anthem, local officials took turns reading portions of the Declaration of Independence, celebrating the 250th anniversary of its adoption.

Before the scheduled fireworks, Hot Diggity Dogs sponsored a hot dog eating contest. The crowd laughed and grimaced and laughed some more, as Clint won the contest by eating 10 hot dogs, earning him what emcee Patrick Appolonia called a "24-karat, 3D-printed plastic" trophy.
