Flagler Palm Coast held its prom on Friday, April 24, at Hilton Daytona Beach. The theme was Bayou Bliss. Cody Mansel and Hailey Roman were named prom king and queen. Dominic Smith and Sophia D’Agostino were the prom’s prince and princess.
Matanzas held its prom at the Shores Resort & Spa in Daytona Beach. Its theme was Secret Garden, “a night where elegance, enchantment, and unforgettable memories come to life.” Lukas Notaras and Mia Apfelbach were named prom king and queen.
Grand Villa of Palm Coast Senior Living Community rolled out the red carpet, literally, for 10 Matanzas High SGA students on their prom night.
Grand Villa rented a limo to take the five couples to the prom in Daytona Beach on April 17. Before they left, the students spoke to the residents about their accomplishments and future goals. The residents voted on their own prom king and queen from the group — Lionel Penn and Morrigan Daly. Parents were invited to the pre-prom get together. Palm Coast Vice Mayor Theresa Pontieri stopped by. Hors d’oeuvres were served, and the room was decorated in Matanzas colors.
The invitation was prompted by the school’s SGA visit to Grand Villa in December. The students sang holiday songs, made cards and handed out cookies to the residents. Soon after, Grand Villa reached out and offered to rent the limo for prom if the students would spend about an hour with the residents before they left for prom, Shanna Graifer, Matanzas SGA advisor, said. Earlier in the day, the residents talked about their own prom experiences, Graifer said.
