A local pastor is taking part in a nationwide effort to read the Bible from beginning to end in just one week.
Jearlyn Dennie, a Palm Coast pastor and media personality, is among more than 400 faith and civic leaders from across the country participating in America Reads the Bible, a seven-day event held April 18–25 in recognition of the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary.
Dennie was selected alongside other influential Floridians, including President Donald Trump, Governor Ron DeSantis and Senator Marco Rubio.
“America Reads the Bible, it’s historic,” Dennie said during an interview. “We’re coming up on the 250th anniversary of the United States of America.”
The event brings together national leaders, pastors and public figures to read Scripture in a continuous format, with portions streamed online and shared across multiple platforms.
Dennie said her involvement stems from years of work in ministry and media, including her radio program Today with Pastor J, her role as host and executive producer of The Vision TV Show, and her leadership as founder and state director of She Leads Florida, an organization that recognizes women of faith.
She said she was surprised when she learned she had been selected to participate.
“I thought it was a prank, because there’s so many national leaders involved,” Dennie said.
Despite her growing national profile, Dennie emphasized the importance of her local roots, saying it means a great deal to represent Palm Coast and Flagler County on a national stage.
“It has never been my ability — it has always been my availability,” she said. “Just saying yes is what has gotten me here.”
Dennie said the experience of reading Scripture as part of a national effort was both meaningful and humbling, calling it an honor to share her faith with a broader audience.
The America Reads the Bible event is being streamed nationwide, featuring participants from across the country reading passages over the course of seven days.
