WISEMAN WINS PBA50 VILLAGES OPEN

Professional Bowlers Association Hall of Famer Danny Wiseman, an Ormond Beach resident, won the PBA50 Villages Open on Thursday, April 16. It was his first title in 14 years.

“I have had some chances, but I don’t bowl a lot,” Wiseman told PBA.com after winning the senior tournament at the Villages.

Wiseman, who is also a member of the U.S. Bowling Congress Hall of Fame, averaged 256 in his three stepladder finals matches defeating Randy Weiss, Tom Hess and overall tournament leader John Janawicz.

“It is gratifying because I beat two of the best senior players of the last decade,” Wiseman said.

FPC’S CAMPOS COMMITS TO DSC

Flagler Palm Coast flag football senior Nereyda Campos has committed to play for Daytona State College next season. The Bulldogs (11-4) open district play at University on Wednesday, April 22.

FPC SOFTBALL 5TH AT FIVE STAR

The FPC softball team won the consolation championship (fifth place) in the Five Star Conference tournament with a 20-5 win over Seabreeze and a 5-4 victory over DeLand. The Bulldogs closed out their regular season with a 15-0 win against Atlantic on April 20.

“We’re young, we’re still learning,” said coach Brooklynn Jimeson, whose team is 8-13 heading into the district tournament. “DeLand was a really big game for us. We had just played DeLand recently and got run-ruled in three innings. We talked the day before. I had no doubt we could take that game. We can play with anybody when we’re on our A game.”
