A longtime local favorite is entering a new chapter as Swillerbees celebrated its grand opening and ribbon cutting Saturday, April 18, at its new location in Flagler Beach.
The family-owned coffee and donut shop, co-owned by Mike, Holly and Dakota Wehde, has served the community for more than 21 years. The business recently relocated to a larger space across the street, designed to expand its role beyond food service into a gathering place for the community.
“We do love donuts and ice cream, but what we really love is people,” said co-owner Holly Wehde during the ceremony. “We love this community… our motto here is to make people feel loved, valued and known.”
The grand opening event included a ribbon cutting, live music, vendors and a pop-up market, drawing a strong turnout of community members.
Owners also took time to thank supporters who have helped sustain the business over the years.
“We just want to say… how much you guys have supported us through some of the ups and downs… we couldn’t feel more proud to be a part of this community for 21 years,” said co-owner Mike Wehde.
The new space has been intentionally designed to serve as what the owners call a “community hive,” hosting a variety of gatherings.
“Over the last few months, we’ve been renovating this space because we really wanted to create a community hub where people could come in and sit and stay and just fellowship,” said co-owner Dakota Wehde.
The location is expected to host everything from a place for moms to hang out to Bible studies and entrepreneurial events, reinforcing its focus on community connection.
