A new art studio for children is now open in Ormond Beach.

Color Joy Art Studio offers art classes, workshops and camps for kids ages 6-14, and according to a press release, the studio is focused on "encouraging students to find joy in the process of making and creating by emphasizing the journey as much as the finished product."

Founded by Ormond Beach resident Lisa Rademacher, a middle school art teacher for Volusia County Schools, Color Joy will allow students to imagine, create, design, form and tinker with both 2D and 3D art including painting, drawing, printmaking, collage, fiber arts and sculpture.

"This was always a dream of mine," Rademacher said. "I wanted to provide a fun and safe experience for kids to explore their creativity. It's not always about what something looks like in the end but also about the journey. Currently there are very few art opportunities locally for kids — especially extracurricularly during the school year. I want to help bridge that gap, and allow kids to explore, get crafty and have fun opportunities to do so!”

Rademacher holds a bachelor's in visual communication design from Purdue University and has over 25 years of experience in advertising and design.

In addition to summer camps and classes offered from June to August, teen and junior art clubs will be offered starting in August.
