The Bunnell Police Department recently made arrests in two unrelated robbery cases involving the use or threat of force to deprive victims of property. Swift action by officers and coordinated support from law enforcement partners led to the apprehension of all suspects and recovery of stolen property, a BPD press release said.

Robbery during online marketplace meet-up

April 22, 2025, BPD officers responded to a call after two suspects stole a $1,750 Rolex watch during a Facebook Marketplace meet up at the Family Dollar on East Moody Boulevard.

The victim told officers he met with “Marcus,” later identified as Marcus Walker, 21, of Fort Liberty, North Carolina. During the meeting, Walker asked to show the watch to who he said was his girlfriend, later identified as his 14-year-old cousin, a Palm Coast resident.

The victim held  the watch near the passenger window and the girl allegedly grabbed the watch and the two fled the scene in a white Alfa Romeo SUV, the press release said. The Flagler County Sheriff’s Real Time Crime Center located the SUV and a high-risk traffic stop in the R-section of Palm Coast led to the recovery of the stolen watch and the arrest of both suspects.

Walker later confessed to law enforcement, stating, “Yeah, I did something dumb,” and admitted to planning the theft. He confirmed the watch was intended for his 14-year-old cousin.

Both Walker and his cousin were charged with grand theft and robbery felonies. Walker was taken to the jail and booked on a $7,000 bond while the 14-year-old was taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice.

Crash turns criminal: Man demands cash, threatens driver

A 36-year-old Bunnell man was arrested on May 5 after he allegedly demanded $1,500 from another driver after their two cars collided on North Pine Street.

The suspect, Jason Bass, reportedly exited his vehicle after the crash and demanded money to fix the cosmetic damages, the BPD press release said. Bass then threatened to beat the other driver if they didn't hand over the money.

The other driver handed over the the cash they had, $463, and Bass then told them to go to the bank for more money. Bass later followed the victim across town, attempted to force the victim's car door open and banged on the window.

BPD officers and FCSO deputies later stopped Bass near the Flagler County courthouse, where Bass was arrested. In his car, officers found two handguns and an open, cold beer can. Bass told officers, "Sometimes you have to drink," when questioned, the press release said.

Bass was charged with robbery, burglary, petit theft, and cited for possession of an open container in a vehicle. He was transported to the Flagler County Inmate Facility on a $13,000 bond.
