Daytona State College’s Emergency Medical Services students rank among the best in Florida, based on first-attempt pass rates on the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians certification exams, according to new data released by the Florida Department of Health.
“Paramedics and EMTs are often the first on the scene to provide lifesaving care in an emergency, and our mission is to ensure our graduates are prepared to deliver the highest level of support in any situation,” said Dr. Tom LoBasso, president of DSC. “These outstanding pass rates reflect the rigor and excellence of our programs.”
Based on a three-year average, Daytona State ranks fifth out of 44 paramedic programs statewide with a 79% first-attempt pass rate — well above the national average of 71%.
DSC also ranks 20th out of 58 EMT programs in Florida, with a 72% first-attempt pass rate, outperforming the national average of 67%.
