Matanzas winger Alex Diaz scored two goals as the White team defeated the Dark team 8-1 at the 10th annual East Coast Florida Soccer All-Star Classic on April 23 at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex. The game was scoreless at halftime.
For the first time in the Classic's history, the event also included a girls All-Star game, which turned out to be a classic. A 1-1 tie was resolved with the Dark team winning on penalty kicks. Nichole Dickinson of Flagler Palm Coast scored the winning PK for the dark uniforms.
Bridget Toman of Deltona Trinity Christian and Danny Peralta of Mainland were the game's coaches. Reg Monsanto, the Classic's founder and director, thanked FPC boys soccer coach Ramtin Amiri for organizing the girls game.
FPC soccer player Noah Daily, who played in the East Coast All-Star Classic, has committed to Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville.
FPC girls soccer players Natalie Neal, Ivy Chen and Katherine Ouellette have been named to the Florida Athletic Coaches Association All-State team. All three players will be back next season.
Ouellette, Chen and FPC soccer teammates Erin Hughes, Nichole Dickinson and Eva Sites were named to the FACA All-Academic team. Chen, an International Baccalaureate student, has been a straight-A student from elementary school through high school.
