Local philanthropists have donated $500,000 to the SMA Healthcare Foundation.

Hyatt and CiCI Brown's donation is to support the SMA's new, state-of-the-art integrated healthcare facility in west Volusia County, according to a press release. The facility is being built on Stone Street in DeLand.

Between the Brown's donation and other funding sources, 60% of the funds to build the facility have been secured, the press release said. The new center will consolidate SMA services provided in the west side of the county and expand the services to include primary care and a pharmacy.

The University of Florida will also have an office on site, the press release said.

"The Foundation is immensely grateful for the donation from Hyatt and Cici Brown and others” said Brooks Casey, board chair of the SMA Healthcare Foundation. “Our community will benefit immensely through their support and the enhancement of services to individuals in need.”

A donor wall has been designed for the first-floor lobby of the new facility, highlighting and recognizing all gifts designated to the project over $25,000.
