A woman was arrested on March 23 after allegedly driving over 100 mph on Interstate 95 and State Road 100.

The woman, driving a Ford Mustang, fled from an attempted traffic stop in the early morning on Thursday, according to a press release from Flagler County Sheriff’s Office. FCSO deputies followed the woman along southbound Highway U.S. 1, northbound I-95 and westbound S.R. 100 before she crossed into Volusia County on State Road 11.

The Mustang was found crashed into a ditch on S.R. 11 where the driver was taken into Volusia County Sheriff’s Office custody, the press release said.

The woman was driving so fast, the press release said, that deputies were initially unable to safely use Stop Sticks on the Mustang. Deputies and Bunnell Police Department officers were finally able to do so near the Flagler County Courthouse, shredding two of the Mustang’s tires.

Even with that damage, the Mustang kept driving west on S.R. 100, onto S.R. 11 southbound, the press release said.

The woman eventually crossed into Volusia County, passing a VSO deputy who confirmed the Mustang was going over 110 mph as the deputy attempted a traffic stop, the press release said.

Shortly after, the VSO deputy found the Mustang wrecked in the ditch. The two shredded tires on the vehicle were completely torn away with just the rims remaining.

The woman has been charged with reckless driving, fleeing and eluding with disregard for safety, resisting an officer without officer and failure to obey a lawful order from, the press release said.
