Happy Birthday, mom

Dear Editor:

I would like to publicly acknowledge my heartfelt best wishes to my beautiful mother, Miriam S. Buschman, who on Jan. 28 turned 105 years old.

Except for her first 11 years, she is a life-long resident of this area, having moved here from Cincinnati, Ohio in 1929.

In 1940, she married William Redwood Wharton, Jr., whose family had roots in Philadelphia, but whose father also placed roots in the town of Daytona, around the same time Miriam was born (1918). Together, Miriam and Redwood raised four children, all of whom were born in Daytona Beach.

Years later, in 1980, my mother and her second husband, the late Albert E. Buschman, moved to Ormond Beach. My mother has lived in Ormond ever since.

Attending Miriam's birthday celebration was a small group of family and close friends: Daughter, Catherine L. Wharton; two grandsons, Larry Wharton and Brian Wells; her daughter-in-law, Sandra Lynch;  and long-time friends, Janet Pehr and Susan Biron. It was truly a joyful occasion, and a delightful gathering for all.

Dear Mother,

Happy 105th birthday!

Cathy Wharton
