Tree trimmers electrocuted while working, both survive

The two men were trimming a tree at Commander Court in Palm Coast when the branch fell on a telephone line.

Two men had non-life-threatening injuries after being electrocuted while trimming a tree on April 6.

The men work at a local tree trimming company that was cutting back a tree near a telephone line in the area of Commander Court when the incident happened, the incident’s communication report said. One man was in the tree, cutting a branch with a chainsaw when the branch fell on the line.

Both men were airlifted to hospitals — one to Halifax and one to Orlando Regional Medical Center, the report said. 

Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputies, the Palm Coast Fire Department and Flagler County Fire Rescue all responded to the scene. Florida Power and Light to temporarily cut power to the area and deal with the downed line.

The scene was turned over to FPL and the Flagler County Fire Department and Occupational Safety and Health Administration was contacted.
