Chick-fil-A Palm Coast Operator Glen Efford spent his Saturday afternoon, May 21, surprising six Chick-fil-A team members with Remarkable Futures Scholarships.

The team members were awarded checks disguised as oversized sauce containers that totaled $15,000.

The scholarship recipients were Maria Maglalang, Kale Britton, Selah Gargon, Rachel Pladdys, Alexandra Khoriakov and Mariah Siebert. This is Britton’s fourth year receiving the scholarship and Gargon’s second year.

Chick-fil-A Scholarships began when its founder, Truett Cathy, set a mayonnaise jar on his first restaurant counter to help a team member pursue his dream of a college education. Since 1970, Chick-fil-A has helped over 80,000 team members achieve remarkable futures through a total investment of $136 million in scholarships.

Efford said he is fortunate for the mark these six team members have left on his restaurant and its guests.

“We are so proud of these outstanding young people, and we’re happy to have them as a part of our Chick-fil-A Palm Coast family.” Efford said. “To be able to play a role in helping them fulfill their dreams is truly rewarding. Each of these recipients are simply remarkable and represent the best of our youth today.”

In order to qualify for the scholarship, team members must be involved in the community, have an influential role within the restaurant and be recommended by senior management.
