Grand theft. A 30-year-old Holly Hill man was charged with grand theft after he stole over $1,800 worth of cosmetics from a local pharmacy retail store.

According to his arrest report, the man filled a garbage bag and hand basket with $1,878.39 worth of makeup products before abandoned it as he passed an employee and proclaimed he wished to purchase a soda. The employee grew suspicious, so she followed him to the beverage cooler and rang him up once he'd selected a Coke.

The man paid and left, but returned a minute later to grab the trash bag and hand basket of makeup before leaving the store. The employee confronted him as he left and the man said, "I'm taking this. You can call the cops if you want."

And call the cops, she did.

An hour prior to the theft, police had actually trespassed the man from a different retail pharmacy store after he was seen loitering in their cosmetic department, according to his arrest report.

Police prepared a charging affidavit and forwarded it to the State Attorney's Office.
