Volusia County declared as a federal disaster area

Volusia County Community Information

President Joe Biden has officially declared Volusia County, along with other counties in Florida, as a federal disaster area resulting from Hurricane Nicole. The Federal Disaster Declaration authorizes FEMA to provide individual assistance, public assistance and hazard mitigation in Volusia County.

"We are very pleased that the Federal government has recognized the need for assistance in our county and is taking responsive measures," Emergency Services Department Director Jim Judge said. "Those impacted by Nicole now have the opportunity to apply for help."

A Disaster Recovery Center is currently operating due to Hurricane Ian. Residents who Hurricane Nicole impacted may also apply for assistance at the DRC at the Department of Health-Volusia, 1845 Holsonback Drive, Daytona Beach. The DRC's hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Residents may also apply online at disasterassistance.gov, through the FEMA mobile app or by calling 800-621-3362.
