The crash involved two SUVs and occurred at about 9:14 p.m. in the northbound lanes near the weight station at mile marker 287.

One of the SUVs was stopped in traffic when the other rear-ended it, and one of the vehicles left the road and caught fire, according to the news release.

The two children in one of the SUVs, driven by a 33-year-old woman, had severe injuries, while the driver and a 31-year-old male passenger in the vehicle had minor injuries.

The 20-year-old woman who was driving the other SUV had minor injuries, as did an 18-year-old woman who was a passenger in that vehicle.

All of the people in the car that caught fire made it out before firefighters arrived, according to the Palm Coast Fire Department.

The 7-year-old boy was airlifted by UF Health's TraumaOne helicopter to a trauma center, according to the Palm Coast Fire Department.

All six people involved in the crash were from Palm Coast, according to the news release.
