The Josh Crews Writing Project, which promotes creative writing in Flagler Schools, celebrated its 11th year with a free drive-in movie and "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation"-themed party to match, on Friday, Nov. 19, outside Epic Theatres, in Town Center.
In years past, the Flagler County Education Foundation has always supported Josh Crews with a party that followed a theme from a book, but due to the pandemic, the organizers decided to try something outdoors, and a drive-in movie was selected. As restrictions were relaxed in recent weeks, a VIP tent was added.
Carla Cline, one of the organizers, was pleased with the turnout and how the program has grown over the years.
"The writing program has grown so much and is in every school in the county," she said. "Two schools have had to add additional teachers in order to accommodate the students."
