When did you arrive in Volusia County? What brought you here?

I arrived in Volusia County in 1998 and worked as a specialist in Internal Medicine for 22 years with Florida Health Care Plans. After training and working for Cambridge Hospital of Harvard Medical School in Cambridge, Massachusetts for six years and enduring harsh winters, I was looking for a tropical environment.

What is new in your business?

I have worked with patients in hospitals, nursing homes and assisted living facilities for 22 years and was tired of substandard conditions for senior citizens. I decided to build my own facility with the highest quality possible, a place I would feel proud to place my own mother.

What is the best business advice you have received, and how did it impact you?

I want to honor and respect our senior citizens for their contribution to society by providing excellence in senior housing and medical care.

What have you learned about leadership from running your business, and what is your leadership style?

My leadership style is creating a positive environment where my employees love to work. Employees  are encouraged to express their opinions and creativity. Happy employees create a happy home for our residents.

What have been the biggest obstacles to opening or running your business? How have you overcome them?

The biggest obstacles to opening my business was convincing banks that a woman can operate a very successful business. I have overcome this obstacle by creating a business of extreme excellence.
