Gym workout slims down man's wallet

5:56 p.m. First block of Old Kings Road North

Larceny. A man went to the gym at about 4:30 p.m., put his gym bag in his locker and locked it with a combination lock. But while his bag — containing his wallet — was supposed to be safely locked away, the man's bank started sending him notifications for purchases worth hundreds of dollars at Walmart and more than $1,800 at Harbor Freight.

A deputy spoke with a gym staff member, who remembered seeing a bag similar to the victim's in another locker. Sure enough, it turned out to be the victim's bag — but was empty.

Deputies got surveillance footage of a suspect from the Walmart.

Man offended over tailgating won't back off

6:30 p.m. First block of Ocean Oaks Lane.

Assault. A man pulled up to the security gate of a community and asked the guards to call the police because an angry man was following him in a pickup truck. The victim believed the man thought the victim had been tailgating on the Hammock Dunes Bridge.

Sure enough, a pickup truck pulled up behind the victim at the gate and a man got out, yelling threats and banging on the victim's car and trying to open his car doors. Security staff told him to leave, and he did.

Deputies were able to identify the angry man from the security video, and filed charges.
