Flagler Schools Superintendent Cathy Mittelstadt recommends Mary Kate Parton as the next principal for Lewis E. Wadsworth Elementary School. She comes to Flagler Schools following a 26-year career with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, where she has most recently served as principal of David Lawrence Jr. K-8 Center.

“Mrs. Parton brings a wealth of experience, both in the classroom and as a school administrator to Wadsworth Elementary School,” Mittelstadt said. “She’s a proven communicator who wants the best for all students on her campus. Her positive attitude will guide her as she steers WES into the future.”

Mary Kate Parton graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor's and Master of Science Degrees in English and Education. She also holds a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Barry University.

As a teacher, Parton was named the Florida Agriscience Teacher of the Year and National Agriculture Teacher of the Year. She was named Miami-Dade County’s Assistant Principal of the Year and was one of three finalists for the same award on the state level.

Of her new position, Parton said, “I am incredibly excited for the opportunity to join Flagler Schools and the family of educators working at Wadsworth Elementary School. Our team is looking forward to the new year ahead as we strive to provide a high-quality academic foundation for our children here in Flagler County.”
