July is Parks and Recreation Month. Every park has a history made up of thousands of stories that help to define it. This July, we offer a variety of programs and events that highlight our amazing parks and recreation story. Find out more by following our social channels and visiting parkandrec.fun/july.

Special Events for July:

July 9 – Ruck the Parks: Linear Park – Friday, July 9, 9-10 a.m. at Linear Park, 31 Greenway Court. Join Recreation Specialist and Army Veteran Jared for a ruck through Linear Park. Never rucked before? It's a military walk with a loaded backpack. All you need is a sturdy backpack, weighted with bricks, sandbags, clean laundry, plates, etc. to your comfort level, and some good walking shoes. Free. July 9 – Explore Gardening: Decorative Planter – Friday, July 9, 2-3:30 p.m. at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Parkway NE. Dig into your creativity and make a decorative garden planter out of a paint can. We'll be adding some life to our practical works of art with a potted marigold and purslane. $7/person. July 9 – Movies in the Park – Friday, July 9, 8:45-10 p.m. at Central Park in Town Center, 975 Central Ave. Bring your blanket, lawn chairs, snacks, and your friends and neighbors to join you at this monthly, free, family activity. Relax and enjoy an “oldie but goodie” or a recent hit as we watch movies on the giant, outdoor movie screen. Don’t forget your bug spray! Free. July 13 – Bellies & Babies – Tuesday, July 13, 4-5 p.m. at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. A gathering for new mothers and moms-to-be, Bellies and Babies is designed to support women during pregnancy, new motherhood, and breastfeeding. Go from feeling unsure to “I got this,” all while building friendships in a supportive environment. July 16 – Explore Gardening: Succulent Terrarium – Friday, July 16, 2-3:30 p.m. at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Want to do some summer gardening without the summer heat? Join Master Gardeners from our local IFAS extension who will show you how to create an indoor succulent terrarium and learn how to keep these drought-resistant plants alive. $10/person. July 16 – Parents’ Nights Out – Friday, July 16, 5:30-10pm at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Parents, are you in need of a date night or just wish for peace and quiet around the house on a Friday night? Let us watch your kids while you have the night to yourselves. July 16 – Teen Chill Zone – Friday, July 16, 5:30-10pm at Palm Coast Aquatics Center, 339 Parkview Dr.  Hey teens, tired of sitting around bored on a Friday night? Then grab your friends and join us at the pool! We’ll hang out in the water, log-roll, play on the fitness boards, and otherwise chill in a fun and safe environment. For ages 13-17. July 17 – Palm Coast eSports Tournament: FIFA 21 – Saturday, July 17, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy NE. Welcome to eSports! Prepare for a battle with FIFA 21 for the XBOX 1! This tournament will be a double elimination fight to the finish. Medals will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers, along with a trophy for 1st place and additional prizes. $5/person. Registration required at www.parksandrec.fun/events. July 19-23 – Soccer Camp – Monday through Friday, July 19-23, 8 a.m. to noon, at James F. Holland Memorial Park, 18 Florida Park Drive. Don’t get a yellow card in fun this summer, sign up for our soccer camp! Through group play and individual instruction, campers will develop their soccer skills while reinforcing the fundamentals. July 20 – Chalk Art Festival – Tuesday, July 20, 4-9 p.m. at Central Park in Town Center, 975 Central Ave. Calling all artists! Want to show off your skills with chalk? This festival will display some great chalk artwork from local artists. People can sign up and they will be provided with a blackboard canvas and a 20-pack of chalk. If you wish to bring specialty chalk you can as well! Judging will be done at the end of the event with the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finalists being displayed at City Hall and The Palm Coast Community Center. For all ages. $15 registration fee. July 20 – Food Truck Tuesday – Tuesday, July 20, 4-8 p.m. at Central Park in Town Center, 975 Central Ave. Head on down to Central Park for food, fun, and community. Free entertainment along with gourmet food available for purchase from a variety of specialty food trucks. July 22 – Quit Your Way. Stop Tobacco – Thursday, July 22, 6-7 p.m. at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. This Single-session program will provide you with the valuable tools you need to help you quit tobacco. These include: preparing to quit tobacco with a quit plan, learning strategies and skills to deal with nicotine cravings to remain tobacco-free, dealing with slips, having the opportunity to share your experience with others in a friendly, respectful, and supportive group setting, as well as FREE patches, gum, or lozenges, if medically appropriate. July 23 – Youth Round Robin – Friday, July 23, 5-7 p.m. at Palm Coast Tennis Center, 1290 Belle Terre Pkwy. Come compete in timed rounds in a fun-filled Juniors Round Robin Tournament. July 24 – Tour de Palm Coast – Saturday, July 24, 8-10 a.m. at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Let’s bike together! We’ll head out at 8am from the Palm Coast Community Center. Our ride will take us along the northern portion of the Turtle Trail and back. Riders are encouraged to bring water and all riders must wear a helmet. Light refreshments will be served afterward. July 25 – Pool Pass Holder Appreciation Day – Sunday, July 25, 4-6 p.m. at Palm Coast Aquatics Ceremony, 339 Parkview Dr. We would like to extend our appreciation to all Palm Coast Aquatics Center pass holders with an after-hours party for all members and their families! July 26 through 30 – Robotics Camp – Monday-Friday, July 26-30, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Palm Coast Aquatics Ceremony, 339 Parkview Dr. Campers will spend their days learning how to code and compete amongst themselves to accomplish challenges with their robots. July 27 to Aug. 19 – Aqua Zumba® (Summer Session 1 Tues/Thur) – Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 1-24, 9-10 a.m. at Palm Coast Aquatics Center, 339 Parkview Drive. Aqua Zumba® blends the Zumba® philosophy with water resistance, for one pool party you shouldn’t miss! There is less impact on your joints during an Aqua Zumba® class, so you can really let loose. Moving your body through the water creates a resistance that will activate muscle groups without impacting your joints. For ages 13+ years. $45/session or $8/class. July 28 – Before Baby: Bountiful Breastfeeding – Wednesday, July 28, 4-5pm at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. This breastfeeding class provides expectant mothers with the knowledge to breastfeed your new baby with confidence. Our non-competitive swim team emphasizes fun, fitness, and teamwork for all swimming abilities. We will work on proper swimming techniques and stroke development. Tuesdays – Diabetes Self-Management Education – Tuesdays, 1-3pm at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Diabetes Self-Management Education classes are facilitated and taught by a Registered Dietitian from The Florida Department of Health. You will first have a one-on-one assessment, which is then followed by three 2-hour long weekly sessions and 1 follow-up session. Wednesdays – Mah Jongg – Wednesdays, 12:30-4pm at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Developed in China during the Qing dynasty, Mah Jongg is a rummy-like game played with tiles. Thursdays – Widow/Widower’s Support Group – Thursdays, 11:30am-12:30pm at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Presented in partnership with Brookdale Senior Living. Have you suffered the loss of your significant other? This is a chance to meet others who have had a similar loss in their life. Free but please register at www.parksandrec.fun/seniors. Thursdays – Pinochle – Thursdays, 12:30-3:30pm at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Pinochle is a trick-taking card game typically for two to four players and played with a 48-card deck. Derived from the card game bezique, players score points by trick-taking and also by forming combinations of cards into melds. Free but please register at www.parksandrec.fun/seniors. Fridays – Zumba® Gold – Fridays, 9-10am at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. This class is perfect for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba® class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower-intensity. This class focuses on all elements of fitness: cardiovascular, muscular conditioning, flexibility and balance! Session runs through May 121. $5/class. Saturdays – Junior Golf Clinics – Saturdays, ages 7-11 years at 9-10am and ages 12-16 years at 10-11am at Palm Harbor Golf Club, 20 Palm Harbor Drive. Get out on the course with an instructor to learn the game of golf! Kids will learn basic golf skills in this weekly clinic. Space is limited, so sign up early by calling 386-986-4653 (GOLF).
