Playing 'tag'

10:17 a.m. Old Kings Road at Palm Coast Parkway.

Petit theft. A black Volkswagen Passat was turning onto Old Kings Road from Palm Coast Parkway when a patrol deputy noticed that the car had a license plate that had been reported stolen in South Carolina.

The deputy stopped the car. The driver, from Massachusetts, said he didn't know where the South Carolina license plate came from or what had happened to his own Massachusetts plate.

The deputy asked the man if he could help him look for the missing Massachusetts plate in the vehicle, and the man said yes. The deputy found it in the trunk. The man said he had no idea how it got there. The deputy filed charges against the man.

Hole in the wall

12:20 p.m. 2300 block of Elder Street, Bunnell.

Weapons complaint. A man was in his house when three bullets struck the home from the east.

A deputy who checked the house found one lodged in the inside wall of the laundry room. Another had passed through a bedroom, hit a dresser and stopped inside an artificial Christmas tree box. There was a hole from the third in the man's bedroom closet, but the bullet couldn't be found.

The deputy spoke to the man's neighbor, who said he'd been outside shooting and admitted, when shown the bullets, that they looked like the ones from his Glock.

The man's shooting area, the deputy wrote, had paper and thin sheet metal targets, with no berm. There were multiple holes through the sheet metal target.

The shooter admitted fault, and the victim declined to pursue charges.
