Uniting with people across the country, local supporters of veterans gathered on Dec. 18, at Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, Memorial Gardens and Crematory, to honor the ultimate sacrifice.
Wreaths Across America started decades ago, with one man's annual tribute. The goal of the event is to help younger generals learn about the value of their freedoms.
At the Flagler event, Sheriff Rick Staly and retired Army Col. Robert Borer delivered speeches. Ceremonies were led by the Palm Coast Wreaths for Veterans Committee, and the Coastal Florida Police and Fire Pipes and Drums. The Rev. Jeanine Clontz said the prayer, followed by "Taps," played by World War II veteran Johnny Vidota, and then the laying of wreaths.
