Spherion Staffing recently announced the new franchise ownership of its Ormond Beach and St. Augustine offices, which service Volusia, Flagler, St John’s and Putnam counties. Local entrepreneurial couple, John and Kayrene Kirkman, have acquired ownership from Wayne Peters and his late wife Carol after 26 years of dedicated service. The Kirkmans began overseeing operations on Sept. 27.

“I strongly encourage all four communities to welcome John and Kayrene with open arms,” Peters said. “My wife Carol personally felt connected to John and Kayrene, as I do today. In fact, I’ve known John for nearly three decades as he was a client for several years, then worked with Carol and I at Spherion several years ago. Before Carol passed, we discussed how John and Kayrene would be the perfect duo to take over ownership of our Spherion offices, and I hold complete trust in them to continue leading the business to great success.”

The Kirkmans and their two children have lived in the east Volusia area for over 30 years and bring with them a wealth of industry knowledge as well as a connection to and understanding of the local communities. After serving in the Army and then the National Guard in Daytona Beach, John Kirkman worked for 25 years in various executive human resources roles, both locally and nationally. He has also served as the president of the Volusia/Flagler chapter for the Society of Human Resources and was an active board member of the Florida State SHRM Board for two years. As a previous Spherion client and branch manager, John brings with him a unique understanding of client needs and expectations. Kayrene Kirman also brings her own experience in business ownership and management to the business as the previous owner and operator of  her own business in Ormond Beach for nearly 20 years. She too has experience in the staffing industry. Together, the duo looks forward to offering a heightened local level of service to clients and candidates in its current office locations, Ormond Beach and St. Augustine.

“We recognized a rare opportunity to give back to the communities we have called home for so many years," John Kirkman said. "Our experienced and dedicated team will work hand-in-hand with new and existing business leaders to drive growth in our communities. We bring a local approach to talent management. Our entire team are your neighbors and live in the communities we service.”

Spherion brandishes the power of local through a network of independent and empowered franchisees like the Kirkmans. Each Spherion franchisee enriches their communities through connecting and facilitating employment opportunities every day — and when they’re successful together, their investments flow back into the neighborhoods where they live and work. The power of Spherion is in its local roots.

“Congratulations to John and Kayrene, who have demonstrated their passion and persistence for igniting staffing needs in their local communities,” said Rebecca Rogers Tijerino, president of Spherion Staffing. “We have full confidence in their ability to pick up where Wayne & Carol left off and look forward to supporting the Kirkman’s in their accomplishments.”
