City of Palm Coast announces 25 activities for April 2021

Swim lessons, water aerobics and more return with the reopening of the aquatics center.

The Palm Coast Aquatics Center opens on April 5!

“We know our community has greatly missed the Palm Coast Aquatics Center this last year and we are so grateful to be opening it for the season on April 5,” said Parks & Recreation Director Lauren Johnston. “The pool is essential to providing life-saving swim lessons and an important source of recreation and wellness to our residents.”

Swim lessons, Aqua Zumba, Water Aerobics, Fitness on the Water, and more are returning as well. See a list of all recreational activities, including aquatics, at  www.palmcoastconnect.com/s/parks-and-rec.

Special Events for April:

April 5 and 19 – Teddy Bear Picnic – Mondays, April 5 and 19, 10-11am at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. This is an interactive program where toddlers are invited to bring their favorite teddy bear to playfully-themed outings that include a snack, a story, and a game or craft! Closer to the date, make sure to check our online catalog to find out each picnic’s theme and embrace them to make this experience truly special. For ages 3-5 years. April 6 – Caregiver Support Group – Tuesday, April 6, 11:30am-12:10pm at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Presented in partnership with Brookdale Palm Coast. When caring for an aging parent or spouse, you may feel like no one understands what you’re experiencing. Join our Caregiver Support Group, and take a break with other caregivers. April's meeting will feature Debbie from Senior Services, to showcase the resources they have available, as well as Robin Patrowicz, PG, JD, CSA, CDP, an elder law attorney, senior advocate, and owner of RP Senior Services who can address the issues of documents. April 7 – Our Neck of the Woods – Wednesday, April 7, 10-11am at Linear Park, 31 Greenway Court. Discover the treasures hidden throughout Linear Park! Through the use of story time, crafts, nature walks, and the occasional critter meet-and-greet, this program will augment your child’s cognitive learning, communication skills, and hand-eye coordination. Each month will have a designated genre – April’s is Murder, Mystery, and Mayhem. You select and purchase a book that falls within the monthly category. April 12 through May 6 – Learn to Swim Level 1 (Spring Sessions 1 & 2) – Monday-Thursday, Session 1: April 12-22, 6:15-6:45pm; Session 2: April 26-May 6, 5:45-6:15pm at Palm Coast Aquatics Center, 339 Parkview Dr. Participants will learn basic water skills and water safety. April 13 – Bellies & Babies – Tuesday, April 13, 4-5pm at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. A gathering for new mothers and moms-to-be, Bellies and Babies is designed to support women during pregnancy, new motherhood, and breastfeeding. Go from feeling unsure to I got this, all while building friendships in a supportive environment. This 5-week, child-with-parent, program teaches an organized sport that highlights sequential directions and gross motor skills necessary to play soccer. Free entertainment along with gourmet food available for purchase from a variety of specialty food trucks. April 24 – Paddle Long Creek – Saturday, April 24, 8-10am at Long Creek Nature Preserve, 1050 Palm Coast Pkwy. Join us for a leisurely paddle at Long Creek. Bring your kayak, stand-up paddleboard, or canoe, and get out on the water! You must provide your own watercraft. Please be sure to bring a PFD or lifejacket, sunscreen, and bottled water. Please be advised that there are no restroom facilities at Long Creek Nature Preserve, so plan ahead. Children under the age of 16 are required to have a parent/guardian accompany them on the trip and will also be required to wear a lifejacket at all times. Wednesdays – Baby Ballet – Wednesdays, 4:30-5:15pm at the Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. A 45-minute introductory dance class containing ballet and creative movement. Young dancers will learn the basic steps while learning how to follow directions and imitate movement in a positive environment. Engaging music is used to get these little ones inspired to dance, and enables the young dancers to use their imagination, creativity and, most of all, have fun! Wednesdays – Intro to Hip Hop and Jazz Funk – Wednesdays, 5:15-6:15pm at the Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Pinochle is a trick-taking card game typically for two to four players and played with a 48-card deck. The City of Palm Coast and the Palm Coast Rowing Club (PCRC) have teamed up to offer middle and high school students this introductory indoor rowing development and exercise class. These classes are rockin’, high-energy dance parties packed with kid-friendly routines. We break down steps, add games, activities, and cultural exploration. Fridays – Zumba® Gold – Fridays, 9-10am at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. This class is perfect for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba® class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower-intensity. Saturdays – Junior Golf Clinics – Saturdays, ages 7-11 years at 9-10am and ages 12-16 years at 10-11am at Palm Harbor Golf Club, 20 Palm Harbor Drive. Get out on the course with an instructor to learn the game of golf! Kids will learn basic golf skills in this weekly clinic. Space is limited, so sign up early by calling 386-986-4653 (GOLF).
