Saturday, Aug. 3

Decorative Painters meeting

When: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Where: Flagler Women's Club, 1524 S. Central Ave., Flagler Beach

Cost: Free

AVA Happy Wanderers Sunday 5K

When: 8-10 a.m.

Where: Starting from Big Al’s Bait Shop, 323 N. 2nd Street, Flagler Beach

Cost: $3

Tuesday, Aug. 6

Sportfishing Club meeting

When: 7 p.m.

Where: Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8696, 47 Old Kings Road N.

Cost: Free

Details: There will be tips and tricks about kayak equipment at rings by Bill May at 7 p.m., followed by the general meeting at 7:30 p.m. and the guest speaker, Will Neimann (of St. Augustine Paddle Sports) at 8:15 p.m. Be prepared for the club’s free kayak tournament on Aug. 24.

 

Wednesday, Aug. 7

Republican Club Trivia Night

When: 6 p.m.

Where: Farley's Irish Pub, 101 Palm Harbor Parkway.

Cost: Free admission

Details: Flagler County Republican Club will host "Are You Smarter Than" Political and Constitutional Trivia Night. No charge; open to the public. Cash bar.

 

Saturday, Aug. 10

Sportfishing Club clinic

When: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Where: Hammock Community Center, 79 Mala Compra Road

Cost: Free for club members; $10 for guests (returned if guests join FSC)

Details: The Flagler Sportfishing Club will have a clinic for new and old members. Learn how to fish local waters from experts. Sign up at the Aug. 6 monthly meeting or contact Walt Huresky at 732-996-3899 or [email protected]. Space is limited; deadline is Aug. 8.

 

Sunday, Aug. 11

Waterway cleanup

When: two-hour shifts, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Where: Leaving from Bing’s Landing, 5862 N. Oceanshore Blvd.

Cost: Free

Details: Join “Matanzas Riverkeeper” for a 2-hour waterway cleanup aboard The Litter Gitter II with captain Adam Morley. Volunteers will be taken into the marshes of the Matanzas River to collect marine debris, such as plastics and other common forms of litter. Bring a reusable water bottle, hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. All volunteers are required to wear pants and protective footwear (closed-toed shoes or boots; no sandals or flip-flops). Wear clothing you don't mind getting wet or muddy. The Litter Gitter II will provide all the tools and equipment necessary to collect debris. Contact Jessica at [email protected]. Where: Temple Beth Shalom, 40 Wellington Drive

Cost: Free
