Deputies caught a fugitive hiding in a wooden dresser cabinet in his home Jan. 13, according to a Flagler County Sheriff's Office news release.

FCSO deputies arrived at the County Road 200, Bunnell home of 40-year-old Jesse Pack at 9:30 p.m. Pack had a warrant from Volusia County for kidnapping and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

But when deputies arrived at the home, according to the news release, there was a a message waiting for them in the form of a mattress that had been placed by the front door. Writing scribbled on it stated, "I know my warrant is active. I’m not here. I’m finishing a job and turning myself into the Volusia Branch Jail! Jesse Pack."

When deputies knocked on the door, a woman answered and told them Pack wasn't there. But she gave them permission to search the home, and they found Pack curled into a fetal position in a wooden dresser with a pillow behind his head. He had with him a cigarette pack containing a glass pipe with burnt residue, according to the news release.

He told deputies he hid when he heard the dogs barking because he believed deputies were there to arrest him.

“This guy clearly thought he could hide from our deputies, but this is not the first ‘cat and mouse’ game a fugitive has tried to play," Sheriff Rick Staly said in the news release. "We won’t stop until we find you! Great job by our team, and now Pack can face his charges in Volusia County and Flagler County.”

In addition to the Volusia County warrant for kidnapping and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Pack has been charged in Flagler County with resisting arrest without violence and with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies took him to the county jail. He is awaiting extradition for the Volusia County charges.
