A Jacksonville man has been charged with raping and molesting a girl when she was between the ages of 5 and 16 and was in his custody. Some of those crimes occurred in Flagler County, according, to a charging affidavit from the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.

According to an FCSO news release, King, who is from England, is also wanted for an immigration-related charge and is under an immigration hold. A Sheriff''s Office spokeswoman wasn't able to provide any detail regarding that charge.

The case came to the FCSO's attention May 1, 2018, after a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office detective contacted the FCSO and said the JSO had arrested Michael Denis King, 40, and had evidence that he had committed sexual battery against the victim in Flagler County, when she was 7 to 10 years old, as well as other counties in Florida.

The Jacksonville detective provided an FCSO detective with a recording of a controlled call between the victim's mother and King in which King admitted to having committed sexual acts on the girl. The details of their conversation are redacted in the charging affidavit.

In July, a child protective team member interviewed the victim, then 16. The girl said that the abuse occurred while her mother was at work, or, after there mother began working at home, the abuse would occur while her mother was asleep.

After her brother reported the abuse to their mother, the girl initially denied it, fearing she'd be separated from her siblings, the girl told the investigator.

The girl said King had been calculated about not getting caught, and had not greased squeaky doors in the house so that he could hear people entering and leaving each room.

King never used any protection when he raped with the girl, the girl said. He would track her period, and "told her if her period was late, he would push her down some stairs, kick 'it' out of her, or she could use a coat hanger to perform an abortion herself," according to the charging affidavit.

King would grope her and "tell [her] that she was his and he 'owned' her," according to the affidavit. When she began bleeding after the rapes, and was alarmed, he told her it was normal. At their home in Palm Coast, he showed her videos of fathers having sex with their children, and also said that was normal, the girl said.

He abused her weekly in Palm Coast, and daily when the family lived in Holly Hill, the girl said. He also abused her when the family lived in Orlando, Gainesville and Jacksonville, she said.

The child protective team member also interviewed the victim's brother. He said he was aware of the abuse, but that after he reported it to their mother and the girl denied it, he decided not to report anything more.

The FCSO detectives interviewed King at the Jacksonville jail, and a Flagler County judge on Jan. 10 issues warrant charging King with sexual battery on a person less than 12 years of age.

“Not only has this violent offender spent the past decade preying on an innocent child, but he is also in this country illegally,” Sheriff Rick Staly said in the news release. “I hope there is a special place in hell for people like him as anything less is too lenient. He is a threat to any child and I hope he spends the rest of his life in prison. Our children are the future of this country and they deserve a loving and safe childhood. This dirtbag took that away from our victim.”
