New Journey Chiropractic has opened at 292 N. Nova Road, Ormond Beach. Owners Blake and Jayme Frear say their services will go beyond the standard chiropractic care.

Entrepreneurship program starts

Oceanfront lot sells

A 1.4 acre oceanfront lot in Daytona Beach Shores was sold for $2.4 million. Located at 3411 S. Atlantic Ave., the lot is north of the Dunlawton Avenue beach approach.

The seller was Legacy Group of Georgia LLC, and the Buyer was Daytona Beach Shores LLC. Real Estate Attorney Ray Schumann of Rice Law Firm provided legal services for the sale. Commercial Broker Tim C. Davis of SVN Alliance represented the parties.

This represents the first oceanfront land sale since September of 2016, involving the sale of 749 S. Atlantic Ave. in Ormond Beach, also transacted by Davis, according to a press release from Rice Law Firm.

Oceanfront sites are becoming increasingly scarce in the Daytona Beach market, the press release stated.

Hospice fundraiser named

Emily Smith has been named the fund development specialist for Halifax Health - Hospice, a not-for-profit organization that provides hospice care services and programs. A New Smyrna Beach native, Smith most recently served as the community development manager for the American Cancer Society.

Nurses honored

Halifax Health recently named two registered nurses, Gina Poole and Aaron Monast, as winners of the December 2017 DAISY Award, which recognizes extraordinary nurses.

The patient’s family that nominated Poole for the DAISY Award wrote: “I am convinced that Gina has angel wings hidden somewhere under her scrubs. Gina constantly goes far above and beyond her call of duty.”

The family that nominated Monast wrote: “Thank you, Aaron, for making sure my dad never showed pain, anxiety or fear in his last hours. Thank you for taking the extra time to make sure he was comfortable.”
