A woman was arrested on Monday, Jan. 8, after allegedly threatening to kill her boyfriend with a knife at a residence on Palm Coast’s Brownstone Lane, according to a charging affidavit by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

A 28-year-old man told deputies he awoke to his girlfriend Michaela Costa Coelho, 24, screaming at him while she was holding his cell phone. He stated that Coelho went through his phone and “found some things that she was not supposed to see,” according to the report.

The man said Coelho then threw his phone against the wall and retrieved a knife from the kitchen. He said he then locked himself in the master bedroom. After several attempts of trying to kick the door open, Coelho started stabbing the door with the knife while saying “she was going to kill him,” the man told deputies.

In addition, he said that while Coelho was stabbing the door, she cut her hand with the knife. He told deputies Coelho then went to take a shower.

She was still in the shower when deputies arrived on the scene, according to the report.

Coelho told deputies she cut her hand on the phone due to the screen being cracked.

Deputies found two knives in the residence: a knife in the shower where Coelho was found showering and a knife on the master bedroom floor behind the door.

In addition, there was blood on the floors, doors and walls in the living room, kitchen and bedroom, and holes in the bedroom door and walls throughout the house, according to the report. However, the man and Coelho said some of the holes were due to them fighting over the years.

Deputies also found marijuana and cocaine residue in Coelho’s purse.

She was taken to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office Jail and was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of marijuana under 20 grams and possession of a controlled substance.

Her bond was set at $5,000.
