Vanacore Homes, of Ormond Beach, owned by brothers Scott and Todd Vanacore, recently donated $12,000 to Food Brings Hope. The company is also providing an area for the annual Food Brings Hope Holiday Toy Drive where toys can be stored, organized and distributed.

Downtown businesses celebrate
The Saturday after Thanksgiving was a busy day for small businesses across America including Ormond Beach. American Express, which started Small Business Saturday, reported that 104 million consumers shopped at an independently-owned business on that day.
In Ormond Beach, nearly 40 downtown restaurants, shops and art galleries observed the day by welcoming hundreds of customers, according to a report by Ormond Beach MainStreet. There were refreshments, live entertainment, free product samples and discounts.
Small Business Saturday, an annual campaign, was organized locally by Ormond Beach MainStreet, which promotes the downtown district, along Granada Boulevard east of Orchard Street.
“We keep hearing that consumers are turning their backs on brick-and-mortar retail in favor of online shopping, but the community here is proving that support for our local small businesses is very much alive and well,” said Becky Parker, of Ormond Beach MainStreet.
Ormond Beach Olive Oil Company, located in Granada Plaza, reported that Saturday was the busiest day they have had since opening.
Ocean Child Boutique, on East Granada Boulevard, said there was nothing small about Small Business Saturday.
“It was so amazing seeing our community coming out to support each other,” said owner Andrea Coleman.
Small Business Saturday has spurred similar events in Downtown Ormond Beach, according to Ormond Beach MainStreet, such as Christmas in July, the new monthly Art Walk on the first Saturday of each month and themed block parties.
Molto Bella hosts giving event
Molto Bella Boutique, 140 N. Nova Road, will host a special “Giving Event” from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 6 and 7 benefiting Halifax Health Foundation. On those days, 20% of sales will be donated to the foundation. There will be complimentary coffee and desserts.
