Sidelines: Hawks baseball on seven-game win streak

After an up-and-down start to the 2018 season, Spruce Creek baseball is turning the corner. The Hawks, who have one regular season game remaining, have won their last seven games in a row. Head coach Johnny Goodrich has captained the team to a 15-7 overall record and 5-4 record in district play. The Hawks haven't lost a game in nearly a month — their last loss was against DeLand on April 3. The Hawks' winning streak includes two shutouts: a 15-0 beat down of Seabreeze on April 19 and a 12-0 steam roll of Deltona on April 17.

Sharks softball ends season on five-game win streak

Jeremy Ossler’s squad is on fire. The Atlantic Sharks’ softball team has won its last five games in a row, including eight of its last nine. In the five-game win streak, the Lady Sharks steam rolled Geneva 12-2 on April 20, Pine Ridge 21-4 on April 19, Menendez 2-0 on April 17, Crescent City 11-4 on April 12 and Flagler Palm Coast 8-1 on April 5. The Sharks are 14-4 overall and 3-1 in district play with one game left in the regular season.

Spruce Creek’s softball team closed out the 2018 regular season on a hot streak. The Lady Hawks, lead by head coach Cameron McClelland, won their last three games — all in convincing fashion. The Hawks beat Taylor 6-3 on April 12, Seminole 7-0 on April 13 and Seabreeze 12-4 on April 17. The Hawks concluded the season with a 15-10 overall record and went 4-3 in district play.

Atlantic-Seabreeze baseball game postponed

Atlantic’s baseball team, which has won five out of its last seven games, will have to wait for its matchup with rival Seabreeze. The game was originally scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip on Monday, April 23, at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex. The game was postponed due to lightning in the area. The game will be played on Thursday, April 26, at the site of the original location.
