Spruce Creek

The Hawks (5-0) remained perfect on Friday, Sept. 29, and they did so in dominating fashion, routing DeLand 49-13.

Spruce Creek opened up with 14 unanswered points before the Bulldogs could score. Spruce Creek went into the half leading 28-13. DeLand never scored again.

Hawks quarterback Kyle Minckler completed 16-of-20 passes for 198 yards and three touchdowns. Kicker Mia Van Winter went 7-for-7 on extra point attempts.

The Hawks have a bye week, currently, but return to action in a huge game against Flagler Palm Coast on Friday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. at Spruce Creek High School.

"[We just want to] get healthy and kind of cover the things that we would cover," Hawks coach Timothy Price said of the bye week. "We should be prepared ... and hopefully, we're somewhat healthy."

Up next, the Sharks will take on 2-3 Seabreeze, which beat Astronaut 3-0 earlier in the season, on Friday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m. in Port Orange. The Sandcrabs were shutout by Flagler Palm Coast in their last game.
