During Bethune-Cookman University’s homecoming football game, Nancy and Lowell Lohman presented a check for $100,000 to the school to provide student scholarships and athletic support.
The Lohmans are longtime business owners and philanthropists in Central Florida.
The evening prior to the B-CU Homecoming game, Lowell Lohman met with the football team and provided an inspirational message about leadership and life success, according to a school spokeswoman.
Dr. Hubert Grimes, interim president of B-CU, said community partnerships play a vital role in preparing current students for the global workforce.
“In our effort to demonstrate collaboration and relationship building, we are thankful to the Lohmans for their generosity,” he said. “Contributions from the local community are beneficial to our students, because it also gives local business owners and our students an opportunity to cultivate relationships right here in the community while they matriculate through B-CU.”
Lowell Lohman called Bethune-Cookman University an integral and important organization in the community.
“We are lucky to have this university as a part of the fabric of Daytona Beach,” said Nancy Lohman. “We all need to assist and support them in any way we can.”
Lowell Lohman is a graduate of Florida State University, and Nancy Lohman is a graduate of Ohio State University with a master’s degree from Gonzaga University.
The Lohmans, along with son Ty and Lowell’s brother Victor, were the largest private owners of funeral homes and cemeteries in Florida with 34 locations throughout their careers. They presently own 11 apartment complexes totaling 2,492 apartment units.
Law firms make top ten in state

Agent named senior real estate specialist
Paul Osterndorf of Adams, Cameron & Co., has recently received the Senior Real Estate Specialist designation from the National Association of Realtors. As a SRES designee, he is qualified to address the needs of home buyers and sellers age 50-plus through major financial and lifestyle transitions, according to an Adams Cameron press release.
Osterndorf is a graduate of Father Lopez High School and Florida State University. He lived in Atlanta and Orlando before returning to Ormond Beach. He said he is fascinated by the lifestyle, history and well-rounded environment that Ormond Beach offers.

Tournament benefits pediatric unit
Florida Hospital Memorial Foundation raised more than $130,000 during the eighth annual golf tournament on Nov. 15 at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, according to a statement from the hospital. Nearly 200 players took part.
The proceeds will benefit sick children at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center in Daytona Beach. The hospital’s 10-bed inpatient pediatric unit opened in May, and the hospital also provides 24/7 emergency pediatric care for children in an eight-bed pediatric ER.
The design of the pediatric unit features ocean waves, palm trees and dolphins, as well as race cars and chairs in the shape of tires, tool chests and blimps.
Coding manager named
Kathleen Mishuk, of Ormond Beach, has been named regional coding manager for the Florida Hospitals in Volusia and Flagler counties. She will oversee nearly 40 coding professionals.
Mishuk has more than a decade of experience in health information management. She earned a Certified Coding Specialist license from the American Health Information Management Association and Certified Professional Coder license from the American Academy of Professional Coders.
