Cancer survivors get day at the track

Florida Hospitals in Volusia and Flagler counties honored local cancer survivors June 5 with a special event at the Daytona International Speedway’s 500 Club. As part of National Cancer Survivors Day, more than 400 cancer survivors and family members explored the Daytona International Speedway and heard testimonials from cancer survivors and physicians.

Cancer survivor Dee Stevens, of Palm Coast, said the event brought tears to her eyes, and she had goose bumps.

“It is fabulous to see so many people who have fought so hard and have survived,” she said.

The event ended on a positive note, with information about the future of cancer treatments, according to a press release.
