Over 325 men, representing over 20 churches from Flagler and the surrounding counties, came together for Man in the Mirror's “Winning at Work” men’s conference, held on Friday, Jan. 29, at Palm Coast Community Church.

The event welcomed two CEOs, Steve Tucker, president of Circle Y Saddles, and Mike Ducker, president of FedEx Freight, who shared their Christian testimonies and discussed how they were able to use and share biblical principles in secular workplaces. They two started together at the bottom level of FedEx, but Tucker left and started his business, and Ducker continued and became president.

Men were set up around tables, and, after each speaking segment, they discussed what was talked about and shared personal stories of their work experiences and ideas they learned to improve that would benefit their work and life.

“It was very encouraging to hear from two successful men that have had struggles in their life, and yet came out on the other side to create a positive God-filled environment for their employees,” said Cody Anderson, Epic Church’s youth pastor.

To kick off the gathering, the men challenged the mechanic bull, which finished undefeated, throw footballs through a tire, shoot bow and arrows, tossed bean bags in the corn hole and threw balls to sink “Captain America” in the dump tank.

“WAW created an environment that provided so many things that men value and enjoy,” said John Williams, the Man in the Mirror area director. “At the same time, it enabled men to watch from the sidelines and engage in relational and relaxing conversations - either building relationships or strengthening new ones.”

Going forward, these men will engage in a six-week study in men’s small groups at the various churches, where they will look to strengthen their relationships and seek to become better employees and men, overall.
