Simpson promoted

Shawn Simpson, of Ormond Beach, has been promoted to assistant director of practice operations for Florida Hospital HealthCare Partners, the employed group of more than 150 physicians for the Florida Hospital East Florida Region, which encompasses the six Florida Hospitals within Volusia and Flagler counties.

Simpson, a certified medical office manager, has been with Florida Hospital for 14 years and most recently served as a physician practice manager.

Green Bank leadership change

Ken LaRoe, CEO of First Green Bank, which has a branch at 175 W. Granada Blvd., has announced the appointment of Cary Berman as president. With more than twenty years of banking experience, Berman has a special expertise in retail banking and residential mortgage lending, according to a press release. He will be in charge of all five Green Bank branches.

Adventist named great place to work

Adventist Health System, which includes five Florida Hospitals within Volusia and Flagler counties, was recognized in Becker’s Healthcare’s 2016 “150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare” list. The health care organizations were chosen based benefits and wellness initiatives, and efforts to improve professional development, diversity, work-life balance and a sense of community among employees, according to a press release.

Adventist acquires Bert Fish

Bert Fish Medical Center and Adventist Health System officials have signed and closed on the agreement that allows Adventist Health System, which also owns and operates Florida Hospital, to acquire Bert Fish Medical Center.

Bert Fish Medical Center has been renamed Florida Hospital New Smyrna and will join five Florida Hospitals in Volusia and Flagler counties. As part of the new agreement, Adventist Health System will pay $40 million in upfront cash to acquire the net assets of Bert Fish Medical Center and invest another $35 million into the hospital, according to a press release.
