Flagler Sheriff’s detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify a man who tried to use stolen credit cards at a Flagler Beach Kangaroo, the Walgreens on State Road 100 and a Walmart in St. Augustine.

The thief stole the VISA card and Discover card, along with about $3,500 worth of other items, from a car in the parking lot at 145 Cypress Point Parkway June 15, according to a Sheriff’s Office incident report.

The victim told deputies that she’d left her 2004 Lexus there at about 10 a.m., then retuned in the evening and “noticed someone had entered the vehicle and took almost everything inside,” according to the report. There was also about $500 in damage to the car’s door and paint.

Items stolen included the car manual, wallets, a shopping bag full of new clothes, office supplies, a laptop computer, cash, gift cards, office keys and athletic gear. The stolen wallet and cards belonged to the victim’s husband.

Surveillance footage from the Walgreens on S.R. 100 show that the person who tried to use the stolen cards was a white man with short blond hair — possibly dyed, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release — wearing a white short sleeve, button-up shirt untucked over khaki shorts and white Nike shoes with a black logo. The man had a bracelet on his right wrist.

The Sheriff’s Office has asked anyone with information to call Detective Robert Blanton at 586-4801 regarding case 2015-61579. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at 888-277-8477; Crime Stoppers tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
