French students use QR codes to learn culture
Matanzas High School French 2 students searched for an infographic related to an aspect of French culture. An infographic is a powerful instrument used to display a visual image, which represents information or data. Students created a QR code out of their infographics, which turned into an infographie gallery Christine Milnes’ classroom, where students displayed their individual QR codes on their laptops.

Students used cellphones to scan each infographic and recorded what they learned from each one. Some topics covered were: pets, the TGV (high speed train), wine and cheese, Twitter and Facebook, online education, French fries, and cultural tidbits about Paris and France.

Flagler youth win at mock trail team competition
Support from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, Flagler County Youth Center and personal donations, permitted the Flagler County Mock Trial Team to travel to Clay County to participate in a head to head competition. The Flagler County Mock Trial Team, under the direction of Flagler County Teen Court Coordinator Marian Irvin, worked hard to prepare for the event with the help from coaches: Marc Dwyer, Sharon Feliciano, Kurt Teifke, Alicia Washington and Judge Craig.

In past years, the Flagler County team won at least one of the two event sessions. This year, not only did the team win the morning session, but also walked away with a victory in the afternoon trial.
