There is holiday magic on display at 1801 S. Flagler Ave. in Flagler Beach.

The Fuchs’ have 15,000 lights that are put to music to create a winter display in their front yard. The lights and infrastructure took about four weeks to set up and the Fuchs’ started planning and programming new songs in July.

Since each song is individually synchronized to lights, which requires listening to each song, or portions of them, a hundred times or more in order to complete the display.

Why do they put on this extravagant show?

“We love the Christmas season and the children in our neighborhood love the show,” said Larry Fuchs. “I have been doing Christmas lights for as long as I remember. I really got involved with putting up lights in my teen years, when my mother was diagnosed with cancer and died in 1963. I have been doing lights synchronized to music for about six years, but began on a much smaller scale. It was not until we moved to Florida permanently two-and-a-half years ago and retired that the hobby started to explode.”

The synchronized light show runs from 5:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. nightly until Jan. 5. The static lights stay on until 11 p.m.

There are seven different musical shows that run each week. A nightly show typically includes five or six musical sequences. This year they have added the song "Let It Go" from the Disney movie “Frozen” and a dance tune "Party Rock Anthem." During the “Frozen” sequence, a graphical image of Princess Elsa ascends from the bottom of the 12-foot LED Cosmic Color Ribbon tree and shoots out graphical images of ice lasers.

The Fuchs’ light show has been nominated in the Light Up Flagler Beach light contest in the Best Overall category and the Ultimate Griswald category.
