The Poppy Drive is back!
The Palm Coast VFW Post 8696 will conduct its Poppy Drive Nov. 8-9. Members of the post and its Ladies Auxiliary will be at the following Palm Coast locations: Cracker Barrel, Shell Station at Country Club Drive, Walmart, McDonald's at State Road 100, Shell Station at Old Kings Road, Winn Dixie at State Road 100, Winn Dixie at Palm Coast Parkway, Bob Evans, Golden Corral and Grace’s Place.

The Buddy Poppy Campaign is a national program to distribute the poppy, which is the official memorial flower of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. The term Buddy Poppy refers to the small red flower that represents the blood shed by American service members, and the veterans' memories of their “buddies who never came back."

The poppies are assembled by disabled or hospitalized veterans. The VFW pays them for this service, thus providing a financial and therapeutic benefit. The poppy is not sold but exchanged for a contribution.

Post Cmdr. Ron Stark emphasizes the point that all money donated by the public stays in Flagler County and is used to assist with veterans’ needs.
