Students at Imagine School at Town Center participated in the second-annual Hispanic Festival last week.

Guests had a chance to see Christina Gilliam’s class introduce all the Spanish-speaking countries with their flags, in addition to seeing traditional dances performed by The Hispanic American Youth Group of Deltona and Raices, from Jacksonville.

"I’m so proud of my students," said Gilliam, director and teacher of the Spanish language program at Imagine. "It's my goal to continue to look for opportunities to expose my students to other cultures and traditions. If you do this at an early age, you can develop appreciation and tolerance in our world."

Gilliam said that the festival is not only for the students, but also to expose their families to other cultures and traditions and to keep the conversation going at home.
