Jason R. Dorava, 36, of Ormond Beach, was arrested March 8, and charged with multiple felonies, including false imprisonment and possession of cocaine.

A sex offender cut off his ankle monitor, told police he swallowed several grams of cocaine and was arrested on several felony charges.
Jason R. Dorava, 36, of Ormond Beach, was arrested around 6 p.m. Friday, March 8, and charged with armed robbery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, two counts of burglary of an occupied dwelling, burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, criminal mischief, resisting arrest, possession of cocaine and violation of parole.
According to the Ormond Beach Police Department, Dorava’s first felony crime Friday occurred at Royal Floridian Resort, when he approached a 60-year old woman on the third floor, near her room, and asked her if she lost her wallet.
Police say Dorava indicated he had a gun in his pocket, forced the woman into her room and stole $200 cash before taking her to the elevator and down to the second floor, where, according to the police, he unsuccessfully tried to throw her “over the balcony (and) onto the rooftop below.”
The victim fell to the hallway floor, and police said Dorava kicked her several times before he fled with the money and the victim’s fanny-pack, which contained her identification, credit cards and motorcycle keys.
Then, according to police, Dorava made his way to the first block of Vining Court, where he entered a home, through a locked screen door, and confronted a woman in the kitchen.
Police say Dorava demanded the woman’s car keys, and when she told him she didn’t have a car, he took a pair of scissors and cut off his GPS ankle monitoring device, left it on the floor and fled.
Police then received a call about a burglary on the first block of Seton Trail. According to the report, the victim told police a man, who matched Dorava’s description, entered his home through an unlocked front door. The man said he chased Dorava out of his home.
Police officers spotted Dorava near 147 Bosarvey Drive, where, according to the police, he struggled when they tried to apprehend him. A stun gun was deployed and he was taken into custody, police said.
Dorava was taken to Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, after police say “he swallowed several grams of cocaine so that he would not be charged with drug possession.”
Dovara is under supervised probation and parole after a previous conviction for sexual battery.
He is being held in Volusia County Branch Jail on no bond.
