Nine new officers were recently elected to lead a youthful Bunnell Sr. FFA Chapter. The new officers are as follows: President Austin Davis, Vice President Hannah Welch, Secretary Kerry Norberg, Treasurer Eddie Bock, Reporter Bryan Simmons, Sentinel Lauren Dunlap, Historian Madison Worley, Chaplain Miranda Kuleski, and Parliamentarian McKenzie Smith.

During the upcoming year, the group will participate in the Florida’s Haunted Trails, host a farm open house at their chapter farm, and show livestock in the Flagler County Fair and Youth Show.
 

Participate in ‘World’s Largest Swimming Lesson’ in Palm Coast
Join the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson to help break a world record and spread the word that “Swimming Lessons Save Lives.”

The city of Palm Coast’s public pool, the Frieda Zamba Swimming Pool, 339 Parkview Drive, is an official participating site for the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson set to take place 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 18. Swimmers and those who want to learn to swim should arrive by 10:30 a.m. to sign in and be in the pool when the lesson begins.

Admission is free, and all ages are invited to participate.

This is the second year in a row that Palm Coast Parks & Recreation has joined with children and adults at aquatic facilities across the country and around the globe to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest simultaneous swimming lesson ever conducted. Led by swim instructor and lifeguard Tom Tarantola, participants in Palm Coast will follow the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson curriculum – learning about floating, kicking, jumping in correctly and sun safety.

Last year, 130 people attended the lesson at the Frieda Zamba Pool. Palm Coast can accommodate up to 198 people for the free lesson.
 

Playhouse to present Doo-Wop
The Flagler Playhouse will present the a cappella quartet Blend, the Doo-Wop group bringing back hits from the 1950s and 1960s for one show 7:30 p.m. June 22.

Audiences will experience hits such as “Only You,” “Barbara Ann” and “Don't Be Cruel.”

Nozomi Dickson, of Palm Coast, made The President’s List at St. Catharine College, in Central Kentucky.

Laura Marie Barber, of Bunnell, earned her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Charleston Southern University.

Gary Potter, of Palm Coast, and Bobby Wu, of Palm Coast, made the Academic Achievement List at Siena Heights University.

Kiwanis donate to Bunnell playground
The Flagler Palm Coast Kiwanis Club presented the city with a final check for $5,000 for the new Kiwanis Playground at the site of the Carver Sports Center on Drain Street. Flagler/Palm Coast Kiwanis and the Florida Kiwanis Foundation have donated a total of $20,000 to Bunnell for the playground, which is now completed, and will be officially dedicated 6 p.m. July 8.

As part of the 100th anniversary of the city of Bunnell, the Flagler, Palm Coast Kiwanis club has also donated Kiwanis memorabilia items to Bunnell which will be buried in a 50-year time capsule.
