Flagler County Sheriff James L. Manfre recently presented certificates to the newest graduates of the Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy.

“This academy has been a very popular course for our residents," he said. "It is unique in that we are able to showcase every division in the agency which gives our citizens an opportunity to meet with our law enforcement personnel on a one-on-one basis."

The first graduating class of the academy are as follows: Edward Fuller, Charles Ericksen Jr., Albert Hanulik, Joann Lidstrom, Angie McGraw, Mark Olson, Denise Saltares, William Stark, Gloria Stark and Ann Tascarella.

The six-week academy meets two hours, twice a week for six weeks. During that time, citizens are introduced to members of the K-9 unit, traffic unit, SWAT and dive units as well as the investigative services and victim advocates personnel. Part of the course includes a tour of the Flagler County Inmate Facility.

A second academy, under the direction of Sgt. Mike Lutz, will be scheduled for later this year.
Applications are available by emailing [email protected]. Enrollment is limited.
